Is there a better way to spend the summer than sweating, dancing and twirling with unfettered wild abandon, in a basement (in the basement, in the basement)? Whilst, if we are being totally honest, there undoubtedly better ways to spend those warm balmy nights, Join The Dots latest release is designed for just such subterranean based activities, get down, get hot, blot out the sun and dance your days away.
Release number eight is from a man who knows something about the sound of the (down) under-ground; The Francis Inferno Orchestra has been lighting fires across dancefloors from Joondalup to Woolongong back in his native Australia for the last few years. When Francis, or Mr. Inferno as he likes to be known sent us the two tracks, 'I Need It' and 'I said Yes Sir' which literally replied "Yes sir we do need it, thank you very much!" If you’ve ever had a mad-scientist moment and thought you could perfectly fuse disco influences with a house sensibility then you have missed the boat mate it has already been done, and done right here, it has.
Despite sporting a ruddy good old English sounding name (Nickelby, Parsons, etc) Nicolas hails from Italy, a place that knows a thing or two about dance music. It shows here, add in an organ and make it sound like it came straight out or 1991, call it the "basement mix" and there you go, a sure fire winner set to light up the darkest of discerning dancefloors.
Fellow Australian Mic Newman (under his Fantastic Man guise) has popped us over a more modern affair with a juttery, deep bassed, looped up 'd.d.d.did I stutter' beast that just helps to prove that the boys down under are definitely on the up.
